The Day of the JackalThe Day of the Jackal by Frederick Forsyth
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A wonderful book based on an assassination attempt on Charles De Gaulle. A secret group within France secure the services of an assassin who calls himself Chacal (Jackal in french) to assassinate the then French President Charles De Gaulle.

The book details on how the said person goes about preparing for the assassination and how the French police get a whiff of it and to locate him.

The assassin manages to smuggle in the equipment required for the assassination and also makes it to the location from where he has planned to shoot the president. He sets up his equipment and is all ready waiting for the president to come.

For details of how he prepares and what happens next read the book. An unputdownable book.
